Mighty Warriors Ready For Kenya Test

The Mighty Warriors will have to improve their compactness when defending in Thursday’s Cosafa Women’s Championship semifinal against Kenya, coach Sithetheliwe Sibanda has noted.

Zimbabwe play Kenya in the semifinal hoping to reach the final on home soil but their defending was poor in their previous match against Malawi which ended 3-3.

“We have analyzed Kenya, they are a very compact side, it’s a matter of trying to perfect our tactical approach, we try to know what we do when defending and what we have to do when attacking,” Sibanda told SportsZone Wednesday afternoon.

“It’s going to be a good game, if our players rise mentally then we will do it.”

On conceding three goals against Malawi the Mighty Warriors had this to say:

“It is all about the tactical approach, maintaining the distances when we are defending, we need to be better in terms of compactness, concentration levels, and so we will continue pushing.”

Influential midfielder Marjory Nyaumwe and first choice Chido Dzingirai are doubtful for this match as they are nursing injuries.

Zimbabwe will once again bank on top striker Rutendo “Madzimai” Makore who has scored all the goals for the Mighty Warriors.

Her hat trick against Malawi took her tally to eight.

“I would like to applaud her (Makore) because opponents are failing to find a solution for her,” said Sibanda.

Kenya coach Richard Kanyi is sounding very confident and believes his squad is capable of taking the Cosafa Cup back to Nairobi

“Expect a good game from Kenya, a lot of fireworks. This is more of a final and we are hard workers who want to win this tournament

“Zimbabwe area good team, the fans are very friendly, they like their football,” he said.
