Zimbabwe senior Women’s Football team, the Mighty warriors have qualified for the COSAFA Women’s Championship as best runners-up after Kenya beat Swazi 1-0 in a group B game, a result the Zimbabwe Ladies were hoping for, this means they now play Kenya in semi-finals while South Africa play Zambia.

Zimbabwe had finished the group stages second behind Zambia who topped group A with seven points, while Mighty Warriors were second on five.

The Mighty Warriors had put their chances of qualifying to the knockout stages in tatters when they drew 3-3 against Malawi on Sunday afternoon, but with Kenya beating Swaziland 1-nil and qualifying to the semis as Group B winners, the doors opened for Zimbabwe as the best placed runners up from the three groups.

The semi-final matches will be played on Thursday in Bulawayo, with the first featuring Zambia and South Africa at 13.00hrs, while the defending champions, Zimbabwe play Kenya three hours later.

The third place play-off will be played on Saturday, while the final will be on Sunday.
