Mighty Warriors Needs $300 000...Minister Appeals For Help

The Mighty Warriors urgently need $300 000 to cater for their next month’s Total  Africa Women Cup of Nations expedition in Cameroon a cabinet Minister has revealed.

Speaking at a function to fundraise for the team in Harare on Wednesday, Sport and Recreation Minister Makhosini Hlongwane appealed to the corporate world for assistance ahead of the tournament which runs from November 19 to December 3.

“The team is preparing for the Africa Women Cup of Nations and they require $300 000 to fulfill the Cameroon trip next week.

“With resources available the team is supposed to be in camp and playing some friendly matches. We wanted a scenario where they go and camp in Ghana a week before the tournament begins but that can only happen when there is money,” said Hlongwane

Some of the companies who were represented at the indaba are Old Mutual, CBZ, Zimplats, Rainbow Towers Group, NetOne, Telecel, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, MBCA Bank, Nicoz Diamond and PSMAS among other companies.

After the indaba, a working committee with ten coordinators was put in place so that they brain storm on ways they can quickly raise the amount required.

The committee is chaired by Old Mutual group marketing executive Lillian Mubayiwa and will be deputized by CBZ Holdings marketing manager Joe Gombera.
