Mighty Warriors Draw Nations Cup Opener
Zimbabwe Senior Womens football team, Mighty Warriors, and South Africa played to a disappointing goalless draw in their opening match of the 2016 CAF African Women’s Cup of Nations, Group A clash on Saturday night in Yaounde, Cameroon.
Neither side took control in the first half of the match, and after a poor start, the majority of the half was played out in the midfield.
In a half of few chances, one of the better efforts was a long-range shot by Rutendo Makore which South Africa keeper Andile Dlamani did well to save after diving to her left.
At the other end, Thembi Kgatlana should have done better when she broke into the area but she put a tame shot wide of the target.
In the second half, South African substitute Jermaine Seoposenwe should have done better with a cross that she put over the bar.
In the early match, hosts Cameroon opened the 2016 women's Africa Cup of Nations with a 2-0 victory over.
Goals from Aboudi Onguene and captain Manie Chrisitine gave the Indomitable Lionesses a winning start to their campaign.
The Mighty Warriors face Egypt in their second match of group A on Tuesday, 22 November 2016 while South Africa play host Cameroon also in group A
