Mighty Warriors Coach Concerned

Mighty Warriors coach Shadreck Mlauzi is concerned about his team’s lack of preparations for the forthcoming Africa Women Cup of Nations finals in Cameroon at a time their opponents have gone a gear up getting ready for the tournament.

Zimbabwe’s Group B opponents, hosts Cameroon, South Africa and Egypt have intensified their preparations for the tournament which begins on November 19.

“It is an extremely difficult situation. Obviously when things don’t work out the way you want, one is not happy. We were supposed to go into camp early October but up to now nothing has happened,” said Mlauzi.

‘‘We are waiting to hear from the association on hour request to play against Ghana and Namibia before rounding up with another preparatory match once they arrived in Cameroon for the tournament.’’

The Mighty Warriors are yet to get into camp with the Zimbabwe Football Asssociation continuously saying that they were still sorting out logistics for the past week.

The Mighty Warriors have gone into camp only once after the Olympics Games in August, when they played against Egypt in a friendly match last month.

And the Egyptians just like the Mighty Warriors returns to the Nations Cup after missing out for several years.

Zimbabwe’s first match is against South Africa on November 19 in Yaounde at Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo before they meet Egypt three days later at the same venue.

They complete the group stages with a match against Cameroon on November 25.

Top two teams from each group will progress to the next round.
