
Mhari Leaving FC Platinum?
THE Castle Lager reigning goalkeeper of the year Petros Mhari might not be returning to FC Platinum.
Mhari’s contract with the Zvishavane side expired and a well-placed source revealed that he will not be returning to FC Platinum.
He is highly linked with a move to Premiership giants in Bulawayo and Harare respectively.
“He wants to change the environment. There is nothing wrong with FC Platinum and he served them well but he indicated that it was time for a change. Remember he also played in Hwange for some time. His contract is over and he is opting for a possible move.
“He admitted that leaving FC Platinum will be the "hardest decision", but he has decided to go. They want him back. They have been calling him but he is a bit reluctant, the source revealed.
The gloveman was one of the big winners at the Castle Lager Premiership Soccer stars of the year banquet awards.
Besides being voted among the best 11 players in the Premiership, Mhari was crowned the best goalkeeper in the land.
He also won the second runner up award in the soccer star of the year category.
FC Platinum conceded the fewest goals in the league, 15, from 30 rounds of Premiership action. The former Hwange goalkeeper also managed to keep 18 clean sheets
He walked away with a combined US$4 000.
Mhari has been a stalwart at the Zvishvane side for the past three years.
SportsZone sought comment from Mhari but he was reluctant to reveal his next employers but hinted that it will be a tough decision.
“My contract with FC Platinum expired. I can’t disclose on my plans at the moment. However, it will be a difficult decision to make.”
