Meet The Four Division One Winners

ALL the 2017 winners from the four First Division regions have been confirmed.

Herentals from the Northern Region Soccer League, Bulawayo Chiefs from the Southern Region, Nichrut of the Central Region Soccer League and Mutare City Rovers of the Eastern Region will play in the 2018 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

HERENTALS

Head coach:        Kumbirai Mutiwekuziva    

Key players:    Blessing Majarira, Innocent Benza, Blessing Maunganidze, Denzel Chimwemwe, William Kapumha.

Premiership history:    None

Home venue:        National Sports Stadium (Harare)

Ambition:

“Just to stay in the top flight; actually looking at the survival aspect. It’s an ambition, I take it with a planned objective of being able to survive Premier League football for the first time.”

 

BULAWAYO CHIEFS

Head coach:        Thulani Sibanda    

Key players:    Perfect Chikwende, Polite Moyo, Arthur Musiiwa, Khumbulani Dube.

Premiership history: None

Home venue:        Hartsfield Rugby Grounds (Bulawayo)

Ambition:

“For now we just want to see how the (Premier) league is like and probably avoid relegation then we plan.”


NICHRUT        

Head coach:        John Nyikadzino

Key players:        “I rate them the same. We use teamwork.”

Premiership history:    None

Home venue:        Peak Mine (Shurugwi)

Ambition:

“Obviously first thing is to consolidate our status in the Premier League that’s our first objective.”


MUTARE CITY ROVERS    

Head coach:        Kenny Kachara

Key players:    Lincoln Mhangaira, Godfrey Chisango, Steven Sibanda, Evans

Premiership history:    2016

Home venue:        Sakubva Stadium (Mutare)

Ambition:

“We learnt a lot when we were relegated (in 2016). There are two or three things we noted and we are going to correct and we survive relegation.”
