Mbweti Targets Golden Boot

Inform Hwange striker Gift Mbweti is targeting the 2016 golden boot award at the end of the season.

Mbweti who shot to the top of the scoring charts following a brace against Triangle at the weekend reckons he is primed to win the award as he has regained his form.

“It’s every player’s dream to win something at the end of the season and I want to win the golden boot award. As a team we are out of the league race but I am in the race for the top scorer and I have to continue scoring,” said Mbweti.

“I am happy with this resounding win because it gives us confidence going into the remaining matches. It’s also good that Gilbert Zulu is also scoring because his confidence is also very crucial to us because we have grown up looking up to him. So it’s going to be easier for me to continue winning and keep other contenders at bay.”

Early pacesetter Bruce Kangwa who has since left for Tanzania is second on seven goals while Caps United veteran Leonard Tsipa and Mutare City rookie Kudakwashe Gurure are tied on six goals each.

Long serving Hwange striker, Gilbert Zulu’s brace against Triangle took him to five goals together with FC Platinum midfielder Rodwell Chinyengetere.

Former Highlanders striker Knox Mtizwa won the 2015 golden boot award, two goals ahead of CAPS United’s Dominic Chungwa who is currently on four goals.
