Upon their return from Cairo on Wednesday morning, Mbalula added to their earnings by announcing that he will award the team with R700K as a "token of appreciation" for representing the country on the continent.

"As a token of appreciation, the Minister of Sport and Recreation SA will give Sundowns R700 000 to share amongst themselves," read a tweet of Mbalula's official account.
