Mawiwi Appointed Hwange Coach
TROUBLED Hwange FC have appointed Bigboy Mawiwi as their new coach replacing Nation Dube who was sacked together with his assistant Mebelo Njekwa.
Hwange were left with no coach last week following the decision to relieve Dube and his bench of duties.
Mawiwi is expected to turn around Hwange’s fortunes as the coal miners are stuck deep in the relegation zone in position 15, with 14 points from three wins, five draws and eight losses in the league thus far.
Vice President for the Hwange FC board of trustees Marvin Maseko has expressed confidence in the appointment and said the team is in dire need of positive results to stay afloat in the Castle Lager PSL.
“The team’s standing on the log requires that we concentrate on garnering positive results going forward and that cannot be over emphasized,” said Maseko.
Mawiwi came close to winning the championship title with Harare City in only their second year in the top flight but had an indifferent season in 2014 and was eventually shown the exit door.
The former Gunners mentor has been coaching school boy football at St. Georges College in Harare where he led their Under 20 team to the semi-finals of the Hammer and Tongues Schools Tournament.
