NORMAN Mapeza continued with his fine run when he stretched his unbeaten run in the league to 28 games after dismissing struggling Border Strikers at Mandava yesterday. Mapeza is still to lose a league match since May last year. FC Platinum could have scored half a dozen goals had they been precise in front of goal. Obrey Chirwa scored a brace in the 3rd and 34th minutes with defender Elvis Moyo also on target in the 57th minute.

Elvis Moyo overlapped on the left and sent a cross that was met with a firm header by the Zambian, Chirwa, placing it beyond the reach of goalkeeper Gilbert Chingwandaza.

The Zambian returned to haunt the visiting after 34th minutes. A back pass to defender Godfrey Mukumbi saw the alert Chirwa robbing him off the ball. He then dribbled past the goalkeeper before slotting the ball into the empty nets.

Platinum continued to haunt Strikers with a top class performance in the second half. Elvis, a provider of the first goal found himself in the Strikers box and was fed with a heel back pass from enterprising midfielder Tatenda Dzumbunu in the 57th minute. The composed Moyo took his time before placing the ball beyond the reach of Changwandaza who had come out   of his line to narrow the angle.

Walter Musona was unlucky not to have scored when he saw his header cleared from the line by defender Godfree Mukasimbi in the 49th minute.

FC Platinum right back Ian Nekati who was roving forward also saw his shot in the 52nd minute hit the left upright with goalkeeper Chingwandaza already beaten

“We gifted Platinum with the three goals. We still have problems upfront and I will continue to work hard on the area. But FC Platinum are a very good side and we can’t take anything from them,” said visiting coach Saul Chaminuka.

Mapeza was a happy man after another good show from his charges but stressed that he will not allow complacency to creep into the team.

“It’s good to keep on collecting points. We must continue working hard. We do not have any pressure at all. In a game of football I know that one day we will lose or draw. It’s, however, good to keep on winning because there is no pressure than when you lose. We need mental strength to maintain our form,’’ said Mapeza.
