Mapeza Elated as Kawashu Scores First Goal.... Calls For Consistency
Norman Mapeza was elated after striker Makai Kawashu finally got his first goal for FC Platinum.
Kawashu scored the solitary goal as Platinum beat Triangle 1-0 away at Gibbo stadium to reach the semis of the Chibuku Super Cup.
Kawashu had not seen the back of the net since joining FC Platinum during the mid season transfer window but his coach believes after breaking the duck, the striker will have a good ending to the season.
“That’s the reason why we brought him here, that is to score goals. I wish he could continue from where he left from today," said Mapeza.
Kawashu was also ecstatic scoring his first goal for the club.
“If you are a senior player, you have to lead by example so that the youngsters can follow. It has been long since I have scored and I hope this is the beginning of better things to come for me," said Kawashu.
Mapeza once again ruled out talk for a double insisting that they will concentrate on one game at a time until the end of the season.
“I have been saying it and will repeat it that we are taking each game as it comes. The most important thing is we won and we are in the next round. We will p?ay to win each and every game and will see at the end of the season," added Mapeza.
At Barbourfields Stadium Highlanders beat How Mine 4-3 on penalties after the match had ended 1-1 in normal time.
Kuda Musharu struck the crossbar with his spot kick while former Highlanders keeper Munyaradzi Diya had his penalty kick saved by Arial Sibanda.
Highlanders had taken the lead in regulation time through Simon Munawa who scored in the 14th minute of the game while How Mine substitute Godfrey Nguwodzawo scored the equaliser in the 36th minute.
The results mean FC Platinum and Highlanders join Ngezi Platinum and Harare City in the semi-finals of the tournament.
