Mandigora Fired? . . . Tapera For Triangle

JAIROS TAPERA could be the next Triangle United coach.

After parting ways with South African First National Division side Black Leopards, Tapera is a favourite to replace David ‘Yogi’ Mandigora.

After achieving a top four finish in 2015 under Kelvin Kaindu, Triangle ended the season on 11th position with 38 points under Mandigora, way short of their target for the season.

SportsZone has it on good authority that the former Young Warriors coach, who parted ways with the Limpopo side just five months after his arrival in South Africa is in talks with the club.

However, Tapera denied any links with the Lowveld side club.

“I am at home in Kwekwe. I am not in Triangle. I arrived from South Africa on Friday. You are not the only one to make such any inquiry. Zviri kungotaurwa. I am not attached to any club at the moment,” the former FC Platinum junior coach said.

Tapera was seen in Triangle with the club executives and could be a candidate for the top post after the club’s dismal performance this year.

The former Young Warriors gaffer parted ways with Black Leopards after their 2-3 home defeat to Stellenbosch FC, who came back from 2-0 down at Thohoyandou Stadium last month.

It was Tapera’s third defeat in the league, where he won three times and drew thrice. He leaves Black Leopards sitting on position eight on the log table with 12 points, nine points behind log leaders Thanda Royal Zulu.

In his nine matches for the South African side, the former FC Platinum development side coach beat Santos 2-1, Milano United 4-0 and FC Cape Town 3-2 and drew 1-1 against Jomo Cosmos, 2-2 against Mthatha Bucs and 1-1 against Cape Town All-Stars.

He lost to former Chicken Inn gaffer, Joey Antipas’ AmaZulu 1-2, University of Pretoria 0-2 and Stellenbosch 2-3.
