Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has appointed the association’s operating officer Joseph Mamutse as the substantive General Secretary.

Zifa has been operating without a substantive general Secretary since April 2016 with Mamutse, taking over on an acting capacity after former CEO Jonathan Mashingaidze’s contract was not renewed.

Since then, Zifa advertised the vacant post before later deciding to head-hunt, but that process again failed to find a suitable candidate as the association continued operations without a substantive general Secretary.

Mamutse’s contract will run until 2018.
