Malawi's Kamwendo, Phiri Excited Ahead Of Warriors Clash

Malawi and former Caps United midfielder Joseph Kamwendo says he feels good to be back in Zimbabwe after turning out for the Green Machine in 2004 when the club lifted the league in great fashion.

“For me as everyone knows that Zimbabwe is my second home. It is a great feeling to be back in Zimbabwe.

“I know the people here and they have helped me to be where I am today, they supported me when I was here before people knew who I was but Zimbabwe helped me to be where I am so it is going to be an emotional return especially playing at the NSS where I made my name there so it is a great feeling like I said and I am looking forward to the game on Sunday,” he said.

But he will not be the only former Caps United player in the Malawi national soccer side as Gerald Phiri who left CAPS United last year is also part of the side.

Phiri feels coming to Zimbabwe, Malawi do not have anything to lose instead, it is the Warriors who are under pressure to perform.

“I feel Zimbabwe are under pressure to qualify, the fans would be behind them the whole country is behind them they want them to qualify so I feel like they would be under pressure and it might work to our advantage”

“We are ready and I know a few players most of them based in South Africa and I also know the style of Zimbabwean football so I think it is going to be a tough game,” said Phiri.
