Malajila's Big Wish
ZIMBABWE international striker Cuthbert Malajila is craving for a trophy that has eluded him in his entire career in South Africa as Bidwest Wits prepare for the MTN8 final clash against Khama Billiat’s Mamelodi Sundowns at Mombela on Saturday.
The 30-year-old Warriors striker is well versed with his former team’s playing style and he is hoping to win the MTN8 Cup for the first time at the expense of his former paymasters.
“For me, this is the last trophy I don’t have. I have to give everything, it is more important for the team and to me because it is the last cup I don’t have.
“If we win, I will be the happiest person,” Malajila told KickOff.
Although Billiat is arguably Mamelodi Sundowns’ most potent weapon, Malajila has spoken about Hlopo Kekana, the Brazilians’ midfield enforcer.
Malajila is mindful of Kekana's influence in the engine room for Pitso Mosimane's star-studded outfit, who also qualified for the CAF Champions League final this month.
"I think they are good on the second ball, the counter-attack. But as I said, we know that is their strength.
“We know Kekana can do the job. So as I said, we are going through those things. Even videos, we are going to check them again, to see again their weaknesses and strengths.
"It's a cup final, anything can change, maybe we change the tactics also," he said.
"For us we must be positive, how we can exploit what we think are their weaknesses. I think them also, they are doing their tactics. It's good for them and us. We know where we are going to go, one goal can win it."
The Warriors striker, who traded Downs for Wits in the off-season, won every other domestic competition during his time at Chloorkop.
Naturally he would like to complete the set on Saturday.
