Long Service Award For Marufu

Veteran Striker Philip Marufu was on Friday honoured for his long service to Chapungu FC at an awards ceremony held at Sunset gardens in Gweru.

The 37-year-old Marufu has been a loyal servant to Chapungu for 18 years in his career that saw him being loaned to Dynamos in 2008, Democratic Republic of Congo soccer outfit FC Lupopo in 2010 and to Black Rhinos in 2013.

The ecstatic Marufu who could not contain his happiness said he is grateful to the team for giving him such an award.

“I am grateful to the team for affording me such an award and I am happy my loyalty to the team finally paid off. The club has become more of a family now,” said Marufu.

Marufu made his debut appearance in PSL in 2000 plying for Chapungu FC. 

Sensational winger Blessing Sahondo walked away with the most improved player award while midfielder Emmanuel Chitauro claimed the most disciplined player accolade.

Golden glove award was given to Roy Mazingi while striker Allan Tavarwisa clinched the golden boot award. Players’ player of the year was won by winger Ian Nyoni and Chapungu Captain, skipper Collen Kwaramba won the player of the year award.
