Locals Have A Chance
WARRIORS coach Kallisto Pasuwa has said locally based players who dispatched Zambia in a friendly international at the National Sports on Saturday have a fair chance of making the final Afcon squad.
Former youth international defender Teenage Hadebe scored the solitary goal off a Hardlife Zvirekwi freekick on the 55th minute to give coach Kallisto Pasuwa’s men the perfect start to preparations for next’s year’s Afcon finals in Gabon.
Pasuwa, whose finals squad is sure to be dominated by foreign based professionals, said he had seen encouraging signs to build on from Saturday’s match.
“Everybody who played today did well and has a chance of making the final Afcon squad, but we will sit down with the technical team and assess the match before making decisions,” said Pasuwa.
“Most of these guys have been dominating the local league but remember we have previously failed at Chan and Cosafa after taking players who were dominating in the league back then.
“So what we wanted today is to see how they respond in a game situation in national colours and I am happy to say they did very well.
“Some of them have been playing for the national team at different levels, so this match was part of their developmental program,” he said.
