Liverpool, Manchester City And Manchester United All Win
Liverpool continued their impressive start to the season with a 5-1 thumping of Hull City, as Manchester City continued their unbeaten run with a win at Swansea City.
The Reds started the encounter on the front foot, going close through efforts from Joel Matip and Jordan Henderson in the opening ten minutes of play.
They eventually got the breakthrough they were looking for in the 17th minute, Lallana latching onto a pass from Coutinho before firing a disguised shot into the bottom-right corner.
Liverpool continued to put the Tigers under the cosh and the pressure finally took its toll on the visitors when Elmohamady was shown a straight red card for a handball in the danger area. Milner stepped up to take it and made no mistake, drilling a powerful effort into the bottom-right corner.
Hull never fully recovered from that setback as the rampant hosts went on to add one more goal to their tally in the 36th minute. The impressive Mané skipped past one challenge before unleashing a swerving drive which flew into the bottom-left corner from just inside the box.
Playing with their tails up, Liverpool had several more chances to add to their advantage in the closing stages of the first half, although Hull managed to hold firm.
The Tigers gave themselves a glimmer of hope after the break, when Meyler fired into the bottom-left corner from inside the danger area in the 51st minute, but Liverpool were quick to restore their three-goal cushion.
Virtually from the restart, Coutinho latched onto a neat pass from Lallana, before cutting inside and firing a curling effort into the bottom-right corner from outside the box.
And Hull's after went from bad to worse in the 71st minute as Andrew Robertson gave away a penalty following a foul on substitute Daniel Sturridge. Milner stepped up to take the resulting spot-kick, and again put the ball in the bottom-right corner to make it 5-1 to the hosts, a lead which they held onto until the final whistle.
In Wales, City came out as routine 3-1 winners, Sergio Aguero on the scoresheet once again with a brace and England international Raheem Sterling finding the back of the net as well.
Elsewhere, Steven Pienaar limped off injured as Sunderland went down 3-2 to Crystal Palace, Bournemouth shocked in-form Everton 1-0, Tottenham Hotspur were 2-1 winners away at Middlesbrough and Stoke City and West Brom played out a 1-1 draw.
Earlier in the day, Manchester United were too hot for champions Leicester City to handle as they secured a 4-1 win at Old Trafford.
