LIVE SPORTSDAY: UNITED, BOSSO & MUTARE WIN AS ZPC FALL

1713: That is the end of our LIVE UPDATES for today and bye for now!

1703: That is is for today. Highlanders' fine run continues as they dent ZPC Kariba's form with a 2-1 win over Sunday Chidzambwa's side. CAPS United are 2-1 winners over Bulawayo City who feel hard done as they believe their first goal was NOT an offside and Mutare City's 24th minute goal over hosts Hwange was enough to silence thet hosts.

CAPS United v Bulawayo City

CAPS United striker Leonard Tsipa: Right now I feel good as strikers have to deliver for the team to win. Hard work pays. We are training hard and that is giving us results as a team. We have quality and give 100 percent if given a chance to play.

Mtulisi Mapohosa Bulawayo City: I thought we are now playing professional soccer in Zimbabwe. Can't even explain how that was an offside. We have to go back to the drawing board and maybe something positive will come out.

CAPS United coach Lloyd Chitembwe: Good for us and the team more imprtant is maximising points> the squad is good and happy with the contribution of evryone with the team now. Tafadzwa and Dominic to give them game time as they were awayFirst half was a good performance. But second wasnt as we wanted but that is expected in football

Bulawayo City coach Philani Ncube: That was the order of the day and that is ow we recognise ZIm football. Second goal, thought were back in the game but were denied.

ZPC Kariba coach Sunday Chidzambwa "We were better in the second half but our boys lacked character because they are not used to playing under crowds like these. They need to learn to play in such crowds"

1445: Since ZPC Kariba's entry into the elite league in 2014, they have not lost to Highlanders.

First ZPC won 3-1 before a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture. Last season, Highlanders lost the first encounter 0-2 on the road before succumbing to a 0-1 loss at home.

1440: Highlanders winger Rahman Kutsanzira believes his side can put a stop to ZPC Kariba’s good run against Bosso this afternoon at Barbourfields.

“Enough is enough, they have been dominating us for long now and we need to put a stop to that, however I also know that it’s going to be a tough game but this is football, no one has a right to continue dominating another, we saw it in Harare recently,” said Kutsanzira.

1435: After getting his first goal for CAPS United, Simba Nhivi – who is part of the side travelling to Bulawayo for a date against Bulawayo City – believes his goal against Mutare City is the beginning of a new capter.

“Morale in camp is very high, everyone is happy and the performance at training is very encouraging and we hope to get a good result against Bulawayo City. As a striker you are bought to score goals and when you don’t score goals morale will be low.

“The goal I scored against Mutare City has given me a morale-boost going into the weekend game against Bulawayo City I hope to continue scoring more goals if given the opportunity to play,” said Nhivi.

1430: The Pangolins are effectively out of any silverware contention in Ireland. They lost 20-0 to Hong Kong in the Trophy Challenge. Four tries from the Asians (Seure with a hattrick and Cheng adding the other) did all the damage and Zimbabwe await Trinidad and Tobago. Will they leave the tournament without a win?

1425: Zimbabwe women’s Sevens rugby side suffered three straight defeats in the Olympic qualifier play off tournament in Ireland on Saturday at the hands of Samoa, Russia and Madagascar. This means that they were out of the Olympic race as they are now playing in the second tier Trophy Challenge.
