Knox, Mahachi Shine In South Africa

Former Highlanders striker Knox Mutizwa starred on his debut for Golden Arrows as Abafana Bes’thende beat Bloemfontein Celtic 2-1 in an Absa Premiership clash at the Princess Magogo Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Warriors winger Kuda Mahachi was also in fine form for Arrows, causing a penalty early in the second half.

The two sides went into the half-time break locked at 0-0 but three minutes after the restart, Mahachi was brought down inside the box, prompting the referee to point to the spot.

Nkanyiso Cele then stepped up to slot the spot-kick beyond the reach of Celtic goalkeeper Ayanda Mtshali.

Phunya Sele Sele then surged forward in search of an immediate response, and they got just that as the visitors netted from a corner.

However, Mutizwa then stepped up to put his side back on the front foot as he netted shortly after the hour mark. He was named Man of the Match.

Abafana Bes'thende held firmly onto their lead to see out a welcome victory following their humiliating defeat in midweek.

The result sees Arrows back up to sixth place, with 23 points from 17 games.
