Khama Second Best

KHAMA Billiat was second in the African Player of the Year (Based in Africa) at the Glo African football awards ceremony in Abuja, Nigeria on Thursday night.

Khama was one of the driving forces at Mamelodi Sundowns as they won the CAF Champions league, beating Zamalek in the final.

The Zimbabwean international made history on a night Mamelodi Sundowns were also named best club, teammate Denis Onyango crowned African Player of the Year (Based in Africa) while coach Pitso Mosimane won the Coach of the year award.

Zambian star Rainford Kalaba of TP Mazembe was third.

Kalaba was the driving force behind TP Mazembe’s successful CAF Confederation Cup triumph.

Khama was also inspirational as the Warriors ended a 10-year barren spell to qualify for the 2017 AFCON finals in Gabon.

In the build-up to the awards Thursday night, Khama had also been named in the CAF Team of the Year along with the likes of Sadio Mane, Rihad Mahrez and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez was named the overall African player of the year.
