Katsvairo In Limbo As Club Hunt Goes On
Kaizer Chiefs’ Michelle Katsvairo finds himself in a difficult situation at present, with the striker yet to find a new club despite being put up for loan.
Katsvairo didn’t feature in a single game for the Amakhosi in the second half of the 2016/17 season and it was confirmed in June that the club would put him on loan for the upcoming campaign.
However, with the season getting underway next month, the 27-year-old has still not secured a move away from Naturena and may find himself stuck in limbo if a loan doesn’t materialise.
The club said last month, “Zimbabwean forward, Michelle Katsvairo, will be loaned out for a season and assessed again at the end of next season before a permanent decision on his future with Amakhosi is made.”
With South Africa’s transfer window slamming shut in just over a months’ time, Katsvairo - who helped Zimbabwe win the Cosafa Cup - will be eager to make sure that, whatever happens, he is playing for football in 2017/18.
It remains to be seen what will happen with the Zimbabwean, however, the long-term injury to Emmanuel Letlotlo may have given him a stay of execution should the club struggle to bring in a replacement.
Even though Steve Komphela seemingly doesn’t see a future for the Zimbabwean at Chiefs, he did name him on the bench for both of the Glamour Boys’ games in the recent Maize Cup, with Katsvairo coming on as a second half substitute in the final as they won 1-0.
