Katsvairo, Chirambadare Cherish Striking Partnership
New Kaizer Chiefs striking duo of former Chicken Inn players, Michelle Katsvairo and Edmore Chirambadare are cherishing the rare moments they have played together at Naturena.
The Zimbabwe strikers who joined Chiefs at the beginning of 2015 say they have a good understanding which could benefit the Glamour boys.
However, their contribution in the Telkom knockout was only enough for a 2-2 draw with Free State Stars, and then a loss on penalties.
Katsvairo and Chirambadare are hoping to play in the same team more often with both players concurring that their relationship on the field will help Kaizer Chiefs.
“Because we played together for more than a season at Chicken Inn, we understand each other a lot and combine well,” said Chirambadare who scored the equalising goal for Chiefs after coming on as a second half substitute.
Chirambadare’s goal took the match to extra time and eventually ending 2-2 forcing the two teams to settle the game in a penalty shootout which Chiefs eventually lost.
Chirambadare, Katsvairo and fellow countryman Willard Katsande all scored in the shootout.
Katsvairo who finally played his first full game for Chiefs said given a choice he would play alongside Chirambadare in all the games.
“It is only that coaches see differently but if it was up to me, I would partner Edmore in every game. We understand each other because we played together before.”
Katsvairo has played six games and has scored one goal while Chirambadare who made his debut for Chiefs in a cup game at the beginning of the season has two goals to his name.
