Katsande’s Chiefs Contract Could Take Him Past 35
Willard Katsande’s Kaizer Chiefs contract could see him remain with the club beyond his 35th birthday, with an extra one-year option included in the deal.
The 31-year-old recently signed a new long-term contract with the Amakhosi, bringing an end to speculation regarding his future - while he also turned down an offer from Dubai in order to commit to remaining at Naturena.
While Chiefs confirmed that Katsande had penned a three-year deal with the club, the Siya crew – as reported in today’s issue of Soccer Laduma – have been informed that there is also a one-year option on top of that that could come into play in 2020.
In theory, ‘Salt n Vinegar’ is now likely to stay with the Glamour Boys until 2021, when he will be 35-years-old.
Katsande’s was the penultimate contract that Chiefs tied up recently, with the club’s Football Manager, Bobby Motaung, also managing to secure the futures of Lorenzo Gordinho, Erick Mathoho, Siphiwe Tshabalala and most recently, George Maluleka.
