Katsande Backs Pasuwa's Selection
Zimbabwe Senior Mens' National football team captain Willard Katsande has called for unity and for people to rally behind head coach Calisto Pasuwa's team selection.
This comes in the wake of the heavy criticism over team selection following the team's qualification for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations to be held in Gabon.
Former Warriors goalkeeper Tapuwa Kapini took to social media to air his reservations over the omission of FC Platinum goalkeeper Petros Mhari who he believes deserves a place in the Warriors team, which sparked a huge uproar and debate.
The debate even got worse after the team was drawn in Group B with three teams in Africa's top 4 on the FIFA Rankings-Senegal, Algeria and Tuinisia.
''The group of players currently we have at the moment deserves to be there,'' said Katsande.
''We don't doubt that any single individual is not capable of going to compete in AFCON.
''We have everything from the goalkeeping to the last man, which is the top strikers. All we need is to unite, as players and as professionals to adjust to any situation as we did in the qualifiers. It was a rough campaign but we adjusted.''
Katsande says he values this campaign very much as due to age, he is not sure that he will be in top shape when the next edition comes.
