France Football have announced the winner of their 2017 French Footballer of the Year award, for which the likes of Paul Pogba and Antoine Griezmann failed to make the top three in the voting.

N'Golo Kante has been named the winner of this year's prize following his impressive performances for Chelsea in the past year.

The midfielder finished ahead of Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema in the voting.

The panel of voters included the likes of David Ginola, Thierry Henry, Lillian Thuram, Zinedine Zidane and last year's winner, Antoine Griezmann.

In the past year, Kante has been named PFA Players' Player of the Year, FWA Footballer of the Year and Chelsea's Player of the Year.
