Kangwa On The Verge

Highlanders winger Bruce Kangwa, by far the best player on show in the first half of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, is on the verge of sealing a $5 000 per month deal with Tanzanian top flight side Azam.

Kangwa posted pictures of himself having fun at the beach in the East African country Wednesday afternoon, as his manager George Deda was concluding the final leg of talks with Highlanders in Bulawayo.

“As I speak I am in Bulawayo, all the personal terms have been agreed and all the parties are happy,” said Deda.

Sources say Kangwa’s deal could be one of the best for a local player moving from the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League in recent years.

On top of the $5 000 monthly salary, the 27-year-old Kangwa will also get a two-bed roomed apartment with all utilities being paid for by Azam, a car and winning bonuses.

The former Railstars player recently grabbed Player of the Month awards for April, May and June and Bosso head coach Akbay has already admitted that his departure could be a big blow to the club.

“I wouldn’t want to lose him because he is a very influential player in our team. However, I wish him well. It’s an opportunity for him. I’m happy for him that he has finally attracted foreign club’s interest for the first time in his career. He is one of the best players I have ever met,” said Akbay.

Caps United forward Brian Abbas Amidu is also attending trials with the same team but his agent Deda said the former Warriors player has to wait a little longer before he can put pen to paper.

“Abbas arrived late in Tanzania because he was in Germany for another round of trials. We are expecting negotiations to begin late this week,” said Deda.
