
Junior Rugby Sides In Tough Draws
CAPE TOWN – Having taken a break on Tuesday following wins on Monday, both the girl’s Under-18 and boys Under-17 sides will be in action again on Wednesday with the two sides aiming to continue with their winning form.
The Zimbabwe Under-17 side set to take on Valke in the Grant Khomo Festival in Paarl, while Nsikelelo “Sykes” Sibanda’s girls have a date against Limpopo at the at the Griqua Park in Kimberly.
Following their come-from-behind 20-5 win over South Western Districts, the girls side is in for a stern test Wednesday afternoon as they take on a Limpopo side that beat Griquas 17-10 on Monday at the same venue.
Zimbabwe Schools Under-17’s 41-0 over Border CD on Monday saw them finish the day as the third best team after round one of games at Paarl Gymnasium while Valke are 14th on the standings following a 24-34 loss to seventh placed Boland XV.
Team manager Crispen Mhike says they are expecting a tough battle but there is no stopping to their quest for an unbeaten run glory aiming to do so by playing to their strength of speed.
“Yesterday (Monday) We played to plan and that makes us very confident. Valke will be tough but we will do well. We expect them (Valke) to be very physical but not fast but our backs are in good form and we will play a running game,” said Mhike.
