Junior Policy Products Are Bosso's Mainstay: Akbay

Highlanders coach Erol Akbay says products of the club's youth policy are the mainstay of team. Akbay said this following the heroic exploits by goalkeeper Prosper Mathuthu in the ZNA Charity Shield final victory over Harare City.

Mathuthu kept his team in the game with superb saves and followed that up with two saves that denied Ronald Chitiyo and Munyaradzi Diro Nyenye in the penalty shootout.

It was not only Mathuthu who shone in that match but Brian Banda and the find of the season Prince Dube also ensured that Bosso retained the trophy they won after beating Dynamos last year.

“These young players from the juniors are the future of the team. They play very well with the desire and energy to win,'' said Akbay.

Bosso promoted a number of youngsters into the first team this year including Banda, Mathuthu, Dube and Adrian Silla.

Highlanders are in terrific form this season and are on course to win the league title which they last won in 2006 when they had the likes of Marshall Machazane, Guide Goddard, Brighton Dube and Mandla Nkomo graduating into the senior team from the juniors that year.

Bosso who are second on the log with 30 points from 14 matches can reclaim the top spot from FC Platinum should they beat Triangle at Barbourfields stadium on Wednesday.
