It’s Still Game On, Says Chitembwe
Lloyd Chitembwe believes the league is still far from being concluded despite CAPS United opening a two point lead at the top of the premiership with four games to end before the end of the season.
CAPS United showed their tenacity, grabbing a crucial 3-1 win against stubborn Border Strikers at Dulivhadzimu to dethrone FC Platinum at the apex and keep a three point cushion ahead of third placed Highlanders.
Chitembwe said his team will not allow the win to cloud their judgement as they need to remain focused for the remaining matches.
“There are still 12 points to play for in the remaining matches, so it’s still game on. FC Platinum and Highlanders are still within a chance to win the league so we are not getting carried away. We just need to take each game as it comes,” said Chitembwe.
The CAPS United Coach said strong mentality among his players has been key to their charge towards the championship despite the financial problems which threatened to derail their campaign.
“The players want to win this league for themselves and for the team. They have shown so much character, managing to soak the pressure that comes with this stage of the campaign. We are not necessarily looking at pressure or what’s happening outside but what is within us. This is the kind of pressure which motivates us,” added Chitembwe.
CAPS United are now in prime position to win their first league title since 2005 and they face Dynamos, Ngezi Platinum, Harare City and Chapungu in their last four matches.
