It's Getting Hot In Division One

MUSHOWANI Stars piled the pressure on log leaders Herentals after beating Blue Swallows 2-1 at Manyame last Sunday.

The Arthur Tutani coached side got the better of Swallows to remain 13 points behind Herentals edged Mufakose United 1-0 at GMB Aspindale.

Tutani believes the win was good for the team as it will give Mushowani Stars a chance to remain in the chasing pack.

“We are happy with the win and it will encourage the boys as we continue with the championship race.

“I hope we will remain in the chasing pack and hopefully win the title.

“I was very happy with the referees who did duty and I hope we will continue to improve. Swallows gave us a good run and they have a good side, the three points will go a long way in motivating the players,” said Tutani.

Mushowani got their goals from Adilisa Kamuponda and Evans Katema who is now back with the team after spending last season with Ngezi Platinum.

The former Soccer Star of the Year scored the winner in the 44th minute after Blue Swallows had equalized in the 42nd minute to cancel out Kamponda’s seventh minute strike.

Herentals got their goal from Blessing Majarira as the region gets into the second round.

In the Central Region, Shurugwi based Nichrut opened a four point lead over Whawha with a 2-0 win over Telone.
