Its Bambo Versus Mapeza In Chibuku Semis
PREMIERSHIP log leaders FC Platinum will have to get past Chibuku Super Cup defending champions Harare City to keep alive their hopes of clinching a historic league and cup double.
Norman Mapeza’s charges were drawn against Moses Chunga’s Sunshine Boys in the semi finals of the 2016 Chibuku Super Cup set for October 22 and 23.
The draw was conducted at the Premier Soccer League offices in Eastlea, Harare on Tuesday afternoon.
Highlanders, who are also still in with a chance to do the double, will play Ngezi Platinum Stars in the other semi final fixture.
The venues will be determined by the Premier Soccer League after consultation with the broadcaster Supersport.
Harare City beat ZPC Kariba 4-2 on penalties while FC Platinum edged Triangle 1-0 in the quarterfinals.
Highlanders also needed the lottery to beat neighbours How Mine after the match had ended 1-1 in regulation time while Ngezi Platinum Stars thumped Tsholotsho 4-1 at the Baobab.
The Harare City-FC Platinum semi final clash is a repeat of the 2014 final that was won by Pure Platinum Play, albeit in controversial circumstances at Mandava.
Harare City then won the cup last year after beating Dynamos 2-1 at the National Sports Stadium.
The winners of the Chibuku Super Cup will represent Zimbabwe in the 2017 CAF Confederations Cup.
This year’s final is on November at a venue yet to be decided.
