Inseparable Amidu Brothers At Crossroads...As CAPS United, Dynamos Clash
CAPS United hosts Dynamos in a Harare derby on Sunday whose result has a massive bearing on Makepekepe’s title charge but another interesting story on the day will be the clash of the inseparable Amidu brothers Abbas and Brett.
Abbas is with title chasing Caps United while Brett is at Dynamos who are playing to preserve their pride in the derby after having lost the reverse fixture, the first time since 2009.
The two brothers are inseparable as they share the same room, same bed and same mobile phone.
They are simply inseparable!
But according to Abbas, the Harare derby has a lot at stake for them to keep the union, not even a draw is acceptable on the big brother’s part.
“CAPS United are going to win the match 3-1 with Abbas scoring two goals and Tafadzwa Rusike scoring the other one,” said a confident Abbas.
“There are a lot of things at stake here, because if we win the title there are a lot of windows that will open up. There is the African Cup of Nations coming up and the African Champions League which comes up with winning the league.”
The CAPS United midfielder said even their parents are also going to be separated.
“My father played for Dynamos and will be rooting for Brett while my mother will be supporting CAPS United. So for 90 minutes we will be divided and have family reunion afterwards.”
Football is awash with examples of brothers playing the sport but the Hassan brothers Hossam and Ibrahim of Egypt and Boateng brothers Jerome and Kevin-Prince give contrasting relations which makes the story of Amidu brothers interesting.
Hossam and Ibrahim were inseparable with Hassan forcing each club interested in him to sign his brother first while the Boatengs despised each other even at international level with Jerome opting to play for Germany while Kevin played for Ghana.
