I’m Just Doing My Job: Rahman Gumbo
Chicken Inn coach Rahman Gumbo says he is not driven by revenge or malice after his team dented FC Platinum’s surge towards the title with a late equaliser on Saturday.
Gumbo, a former Platinum coach made a return to Mandava stadium on Saturday for the first time since he was fired in 2012 and broke the Platinum hearts when his charges equalised with only two minutes of play left to force a 1-1 draw.
While FC Platinum were left licking their wounds after a third straight disappointing draw at home, Gumbo was looking ahead for consistency.
“Look I didn’t dent anybody’s hopes or aspirations. I am just doing my job. I am not driven by anything against former clubs, because I also coached Caps United and Highlanders. So I just look at any team as an opponent,” said Gumbo.
The Chicken Inn coach claims FC Platinum were in-fact lucky to get a point in Saturday’s encounter as they gifted them with a soft goal.
“It’s not like we were lucky to get a point in that because we scored late. It’s actually them who were luck because my goalkeeper gifted them with a silly goal. We were all over them and should have scored more goals. It was a positive result for us because we are slowly getting there in terms of consistency.
It’s also good that the youngsters that we are introducing are performing well and will introduce more.”
FC Platinum took a first half lead through Walter Musona after Chicken Inn goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze toyed with the ball from a back pass but Nicholas Muchadeyi cancelled it out with a well taken shot from outside the box on the stroke of full-time.
