I Can Play Until 2018 - Tsipa

VETERAN Caps United striker Leonard Tsipa has revealed that he still has two more seasons to play before he hangs up his boots, despite his coach Lloyd Chitembwe’s worries over his age and body fitness.

Chitembwe has rested the 34-year-old striker for Saturday’s Chibuku Super Cup first round match against Tsholotsho at the National Sports as the gaffer attempts to manage Tsipa’s fitness.

“With his age, his body is no longer the same as it used to be so we have to manage that. But he will be in the next game,” Chitembwe told The Herald Thursday afternoon.

However, it seems Tsipa is determined to go on until the end of the 2018 season.

“I am 34 and I feel I still have two more years playing in the top flight,” Tsipa told SportsZone.

“I am inspired by international players like Manchester United’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic, he is also 34 and still playing at the highest level.”

Tsipa is the leading scorer in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League with nine goals and he has spoken about his desire to lift a third league championship before he calls it a day.

He was part of the Caps United team that won back to back league titles in 2004 and 2005.

Makepekepe are chasing their fourth league title and are well poised with just a point behind log leaders FC Platinum after Week 23.

There is a growing belief that Makepekepe could finally win the title that has eluded them for 11 years, although FC Platinum remain firm favourites.

“In football you need to win things, especially the league title. It will be an honour if I win my third title before I retire,” said Tsipa.
