I Am A Changed Man - Mutuma
Controversial striker Roderick Mutuma has vowed to be a changed man and believes he can resurrect his career at Bulawayo giants Highlanders where he signed a one-year renewable contract on Tuesday night.
Speaking for the first time since joining Bosso from rivals DeMbare, Mutuma also saluted the Dynamos family “because they made me the Prince I am today.”
“I am very happy to join Highlanders because it feels nice to play for a big club like Bosso. It makes me feel special and I want to repay their faith with goals and more goals.
“Above all I promise to be a changed man altogether, I promise good behavior,” he told SportsZone on Wednesday afternoon.
Mutuma has a documented history of controversy and was early this year offloaded at Dynamos amid allegations he was one of the ring leaders of a cartel of players who promoted abuse of alcohol and drugs at the Harare giants.
In 2014, he had a nasty training ground bust up with then Dynamos captain Murape Murape before engaging in another near fist fight scuffle with former DeMbare striker Takesure Chinyama the following season.
He had a lot of good and bad moments at DeMbare but the lanky striker – who at his peak claimed the Golden Boot award in 2011 – has a special place in his heart for the blue half of the capital city.
“They (Dynamos) will always remain special to me, the fans meant a lot to me because they are the ones who made me The Prince.
“But it is time to take on new challenges and I believe Highlanders is the perfect place to be now,” he said.
The 28-year-old Mutuma was spotted at a Bulawayo church last Sunday strengthening his claims that he wants to start afresh.
He is expected to line up for Bosso when the Bulawayo giants take on FC Platinum in the Commanders ZNA Charities Cup semi final clash at Barbourfields on Sunday.
Dynamos play Caps United in the other semi final at the National Sports Stadium on the same day.
