Highlanders Maintain Winning Streak

Bulawayo giants Highlanders overcame a battling Nichrut 1-0 at Barbourfields Stadium Sunday to keep up pressure on leaders Ngezi Platinum Stars.

Godfrey Makaruse scored the solitary goal eight minutes into the second half.

With the win, Highlanders are now third position with 13 points, two behind leaders Ngezi Platinum who have a 100% record so far in the league.

Elsewhere, FC Platinum beat Airforce side Chapungu 0-2 at Ascot Stadium in Gweru.

It took the Platinum miners 65 minutes to break down Chapungu with an Ali Sadiki strike and Gift Mbweti doubled their lead with ten minutes to full time..

CAPS United got their win of the season in a 2-0 win over newboys Herentals at the National Sports Stadium.

Denver Mukamba was the star of the show creating the first goal which was scored by Abasarim Chidiebere with just three minutes on the clock and then getting his first for Makepekepe just after the half-hour mark, to seal the victory for the Lloyd Chitembwe coached side.

Shabanie Mine were held to a 2-2 draw at Maglas Stadium by visiting Mutare City Rovers. Evans Chikwaikwai put Mutare City ahead 15 minutes into the game before Trevor Ajana equalised for Shabanie two minutes later.
