Highlanders Fined, Dynamos Awarded Three Points
The Premier League has found Highlanders guilty of causing the abandonment of their match against Dynamos at Barbourfields Stadium on the 14th of May.
The match has been awarded to Dynamos on a 3-0 score line.
Highlanders have also been fined $4,000 that has to be paid by 31 July 2017.
The match was abandoned in the 42nd minute after violence erupted when Dynamos equalised through Christian Epoupa. Highlanders fans felt Epoupa had scored from an offside position and registered their displeasure by throwing missiles towards assistant referee Thomas Kusosa whom they accused of not flagging for an offside.
Highlanders were also hauled back before the Premier Soccer League Disciplinary Committee on Monday for disturbances that led to the abandonment of their tie against FC Platinum.
This was after FC Platinum were awarded a contested penalty deep into injury time converted by Petros Mhari. A few Highlanders fans then started throwing objects onto the field and police teargased them.
