Harare City Not Motivated By Revenge: Official

Harare City are not motivated by revenge when they clash against FC Platinum in a potentially explosive Chibuku Super Cup semi final after losing agonisingly losing the 2014 final in contentious circumstances at Mandava stadium.

Harare City conceded a last minute controversially equaliser which forced the match into penalties which Platinum went on to win.

Harare City official Hope Chizuzu was diplomatic over the intensity of the clash against FC Platinum but said the Sunshine Boys are eager to beat FC Platinum.

“Bitter is too tough a word, you always have it at the back of your mind that you have a score to settle against FC Platinum considering what happened in 2014. But perhaps it will be dangerous to take that into a cup match considering that a lot of things have changed, then we had Masimba Dinyero as coach and now we have Moses Chunga but there Norman Mapeza is still in charge. This is going to be a serious competition “said Chizuzu.

The two teams are likely to clash in a space of days as they meet again this weekend in a league match at Rufaro stadium, which FC Platinum spokesperson Chido Chizondo said was interesting.

“As FC Platinum it’s a fair draw, Harare City are a good team and we are meeting in the league first which makes the cup game more interesting and intriguing. It’s a cup game and cup games are normally difficult but we are confident that we are going to win this match again,” said Chizondo.

Ngezi Platinum and Highlanders clash once again after the recent league match in which Ngezi Platinum questioned an optional time penalty which propelled Bosso to victory.

Harare City and Ngezi Platinum were the first out of the hat and are the home teams at venues to be announced in due course. The dates for the semis are also going to be announced after consultation with official broadcaster Supersport.
