Harare City In Crucial Win


TSHOLOTSHO’S mini revival was brought to a halt by a spirited Harare City at Rufaro in a lunchtime kick off at Rufaro on Saturday.

A Martin Vengesayi first half brace did the damage for City who are now six points clear of the relegation with 28 points.

Tsholotsho came into the match on the back of two consecutive wins over Highlanders and Shabanie but their bubble burst at Rufaro.

The remain second from bottom with 15 points from 24 matches.

Vengesayi scored from an acute angle after 26 minutes when he latched onto a Malvin Gaki cross.

Gaki turned provider once again, three minutes later, setting the former Dynamos man who slid the ball in from close range.

The visitors reduced the arrears after 64 minutes through Lucky Nyathi but Harare City hung on for three crucial points.

“The win gives us confidence going forward and we remain positive in our bid to survive relegation,” Harare City coach Philani Ncube said.

Tsholotsho FC coach Darlington Dodo had this to say.

“Crazy moments where we switched off and conceded two goals cost us. We improved in the second half.

“There are some things happening behind the scenes,” he said without elaborating.
