Harare City, Hwange Relegated

Harare City will play the 2018 Caf Confederation Cup from Division One after the Sunshine Boys were relegated on Saturday.

The Chibuku Super Cup winners beat How Mine 1-0 at Rufaro to move to 38 points but that was not good enough as Bulawayo City thrashed Bantu Rovers 5-0 to finish on 39 points.

It was also a sad day for the people of Hwange who will not witness Premiership football at the Colliery next season after Chipangano lost 0-2 at ZPC Kariba.

Hwange went into the game on 37 points, needing a win to ensure safety but they fell to Talent Chamboko and Raphael Manuwire’s goals at Nyamhunga.

Chipangano coach Bigboy Mawiwi had this to say after the match.

“It’s difficult to get a result when you join the team midseason. I got the team when the mid-season window was about to close.

“As a team we were also not very consistent, there were games that we should have won, like the one against Yadah FC but we failed to,” bemoaned Mawiwi.

Harare City and Hwange join Bantu Rovers and Tsholotsho on the trip to Division One football.

Elsewhere, Shabanie Mine ensured safety with a 2-0 win over Yadah FC at Maglas.

Resurgent Farai Mupasiri and Maxwell Muvirimi were on target for the Zvishavane side.

But, it was Bulawayo City who survived the chop in emphatic style, hammering five past Bantu Rovers at Luveve.

Newman Sianchali scored four goals with the other one coming from Trevor Ndlovu.
