Harare City, FC Platinum In Boardroom Clash

HARARE CITY football club are demanding back their match balls which were punctured by FC Platinum fans during the chaotic Chibuku Super Cup semi final match which they lost 0-3 at Mandava last Saturday.

Five match balls were deflated in the first 30 minutes of the clash in an apparent indication that FC Platinum fans wanted their own match balls to be used, despite the fact that Harare City were technically the home team.

Harare City football club chairman Alois Masepe wrote to the Premier Soccer League Wednesday blasting the act which he likened to hooliganism.

“Obviously the behavior by FC Platinum was anchored on and influenced by belief in the power of juju…We cannot stoop so low,” read part of Masepe’s letter to Kenny Ndebele, the PSL chief executive officer.

“The PSL need to demonstrate to the clubs, the soccer fraternity and more importantly to the sponsor that we do not condone primitive beliefs and hooliganistic conduct in our soccer.”

Masepe clearly wants the PSL to take action and claims that the conduct by the FC Platinum fans left his players feeling unsafe.

He also lamented the behavior which he said was a bad advertisement of the local top flight league as the Chibuku Super Cup semi final tie was beamed live on Supersport 9.
