THE Premier Soccer League disciplinary committee has slapped Chicken Inn head coach, Rahman Gumbo, with a $2 500 fine after he was found guilty of causing the abandonment of a Chibuku Super Cup game in September.

Gumbo will pay $2 000 after $500 was suspended and he will also foot the costs of the hearing.

Gumbo is alleged to have committed acts of misconduct causing the abandonment of the Chibuku Super Cup match between Chicken Inn and Yadah on September 23 in Gweru. This was after Yadah had been awarded a late penalty and he ordered his players off the field protesting the referee’s decision.

In a statement, the league’s disciplinary tribunal found Gumbo guilty of contravening Order 31.4 of the Premier Soccer League Rules and Regulations, which make “it is an offence on the part of an official, where the said official causes the abandonment of a match”.

“Rahman Gumbo was fined a sum of $2 500 (two thousand five hundred dollars) of which $500 (five hundred dollars) was suspended for the rest of the 2017 season on condition that the accused is not convicted of a similar offence. The effective fine of $2 000 (two thousand dollars), together with the costs of the hearing, is to be paid by 30 November 2017,” reads a PSL statement.
