Goal Drought...As All Matches End In Dull Draws

Lack of a cutting edge upfront among teams in the Castle Lager PSL saw all Saturday fixtures ending in goalless stalemates.

Even the much anticipated top of the table clash between the leading two teams FC Platinum and CAPS United at the National Sports Stadium failed to produce the sparkle associated with such a match. To sum up the dearth of potent strikers, CAPS United only had two shots on target while FC Platinum registered only one shot on target. Even the partnership of the experienced Makepekepe duo, Leonard Tsipa and Dominic Chungwa failed to provide as neither of the two finished the first half with a shot on target.

Tsipa was the villain for Caps United after missing three successive chances in the second period. He first missed a simple tap in from a Moses Muchenje low shot, a minute later, Tsipa headed wide a Phineas Bamusi cross with the Platinum defence at sea. FC Platinum dominated exchanges in the first half with their congested midfield winning most of the possession, but to no avail.

Both coaches were content with the result although Makepekepe mentor Lloyd Chitembwe lamented Tsipa's miss.

“We would have loved to win because we created some chances in the second half but I think it was never meant to be. A draw is still a better result even though a win would have done us good," said Chitembwe.

Norman Mapeza whose team maintained a two point lead was equally content.

“A draw is a fair result, we dominated first half and they played well in the second half. A draw away from home is still good," said Mapeza.

Elsewhere, Chapungu earned a point away to Chicken Inn in another goalless draw at Luveve stadium in Bulawayo.

At Nyamhunga stadium, Tonderai Ndiraya could not complete a double over his former mentor Sunday Chidzambwa as the match ended in a goalless stalemate. Hwange and Bulawayo City could not be separated either as the goal drought spread across the country.

Fulltime Results:
Caps 0-0 FC Platinum
ZPC Kariba 0-0 Ngezi Platinum
Chicken Inn 0-0 Chapungu
Hwange 0-0 Bulawayo City
