Furious Gumbo Blames Maglas Pitch

Shabanie Mine    1
Chicken Inn    1

A frustrated Rahman Gumbo blamed almost everything except his players after Chicken Inn dropped two points against Shabanie at Maglas on Friday afternoon.

The 1-1 draw left Chicken Inn four points behind log leaders Dynamos who play ZPC Kariba at Nyamhunga on Saturday.

It was Gumbo’s team which took the lead after 33 minutes when defender Passmore Bernard finished off a nice team move.

Former DeMbare forward Farai Mupasiri then took the matters into his hands, scoring a beautiful free kick in the 62nd minute to level the scores for Shabanie.

“The pitch is substandard, this is not PSL standards at all. The home team is used to it and we tried all we could,” said Gumbo in reference to the Maglas pitch.

He also took aim referee Lysius Dika.

“The referee also decided the game, that free kick scored was not a foul. I am not one to complain too much but the refereeing was not PSL standards,” fumed Gumbo.

Chicken Inn now have 52 points from 28 games, four behind Dynamos who have played a game less.

As for Shabanie Mine, the draw wasn’t good enough either as it left Bvaru Bvaru still mired in the murky waters of relegation.

Coach Takesure Chiragwi was disappointed but in the end, he admitted a point was better.

“We started off slowly and didn’t play as much as we have done in recent games but I will take the point,” said Chiragwi.

Shabanie now have 31 points, the same as Harare City who occupy the safe spot but the Zvishavane have an inferior goal difference.
