Foul Mouthed Murape Sacked...Mutasa Hanging
Murape Murape has been sacked as Dynamos assistant coach for the utterances he made to the media allegedly denigrating the club’s current players while head coach Lloyd Mutasa’s fate has also been sealed but will hang on until a substantive replacement is found.
Dynamos president Keni Mubaiwa told SportsZone that Murape was relieved of his duties after Tuesday meeting between the executive and the technical team over statements he is said to have uttered to the media at the weekend saying the club was buying free agents who were not fit to play for Dynamos.
Mubaiwa also said that the club’s executive has decided to relieve Mutasa of his duties after failing to meet the set targets. The Dynamos president said the former midfielder is only hanging in there until they secure the right candidate, with the club having opened applications for the post.
“We had a meeting today where we were looking at the results. The results are not coming as expected. We engaged the technical and told them we need to change and come up with a head coach who can bring results. The stakeholders are not happy- fans, sponsors are not happy Dynamos is a big institution the way they are playing is not the way we want,” said Mubaiwa.
“Then there is issue of Murape Murape where he was saying we are signing free agents. There was a press statement on Saturday where he was talking about us signing free agents. We said he was not supposed to say that. Lloyd Mutasa we have a game coming against Tsholotsho. Obviously we are going to look for a coach who can do better than him. We are really serious about it there is nothing to hide because results are not coming. Anyone who wants to coach Dynamos is free to apply.”
Dynamos had a miserable season falling out of the running for the league title after losing to eternal rivals Highlanders at Barbourfields for the first time in 10 years a few weeks ago. The final straw was the exit from the Chibuku Cup at the weekend losing 5-4 on penalties to How Mine after a lifeless display in regulation time.
