Former Warriors Coach Applies For SA Job
Former Zimbabwe national team mentor Roy Barreto could bounce back into mainstream coaching after years on the sidelines.
The former Highlanders, Black Rhinos, Zimbabwe Saints and Orlando Pirates gaffer has applied for the vacant Maritzburg United job.
Maritzburg United are home to the Warriors duo of defender Blessing “Bisto” Moyo and striker Evans “Bhobha” Rusike.
The Team of Choice as Maritzburg United are affectionately known as, are in search of a coach following the departure of Ernst Middendorp on November 24.
Barreto’s representative Sharon Singh told Kick Off that the ex Shu Shine and Manning Rangers coach had submitted his CV.
"Yes, we have sent the profile to Younus Kadodia. So we know there has been abundant applications and that is as much as we know at this point," Singh told Kick Off.
"He has been around KZN and before that he was at Free State Stars, and he has also been in Portugal for the rest of the time. But he has been out of coaching for the past couple of years now and that is the reason why he is trying to get back in coaching."
Singh adds: "Obviously he has international experience as well with the Zimbabwe national team so we are hoping that it’s going to be in our favour."
According to Kick Off, former Mamelodi Sundowns and Platinum Stars coach Miguel Gamondi, Allan Freese, Roger de Sa and Julio Leal have also been linked with the Maritzburg post.
