Football Is Cruel - Pitso Mosimane

Mamelodi Sundowns boss Pitso Mosimane was left with a heavy heart after Leicester City sacked coach Claudio Ranieri.

Ranieri was dismissed last week by the struggling Foxes despite delivering their maiden Premier League trophy in 2015/16.

"Football is cruel, you saw what happened to the coach of Leicester, it's unbelievable," said Mosimane, whose side can move top of the table if they beat Chippa United at Loftus Versfeld Stadium tonight (19h30).

"Our lives are on the edge in this game. The guy made a mistake by winning the premiership [Premier League]. I think if he didn’t win the premiership and came number six, he would be still having the job. He won the premiership, that’s the biggest mistake he did. It's football hey."

Mosimane required a police escort when unruly Downs fans called for his head at Lucas Moripe Stadium in September 2015, soon after winning the club's first league title in seven years. He has since rebounded impressively by claiming the coveted CAF Champions League and Super Cup among other honours in his time at Chloorkop.

Mosimane continued: "I won the Premiership after seven years. You know what happened to me just two months after winning the Premiership. You know what happened. You were here at Lucas Moripe Stadium. You were there. Who cares I won the Premiership three months ago. It's football my friend. We are living on the edge. That's why I don’t like anybody to play in my space because my children will be out of school because I don't pay school fees. I watched Claudio taking his car, go greet the players. I had a heavy heart."
