'FC Platinum Won't Last The Distance'
Chicken Inn coach Rahman Gumbo who won the championship with Highlanders and several other teams in Botswana and Malawi feels leaders FC Platinum - three point ahead of second placed CAPS United - will not last the distance.
“FC Platinum do not last 90 minutes. I need to be frank. They (FC Platinum) need to work hard. I, however, wish them well in their quest
“We nearly killed them and they were very fortunate to get a point from us on Saturday. They never threatened us and were gifted with a goal by my goalkeeper who made a silly mistake,” said Gumbo.
Gumbo is a former coach for the platinum miners and he proved a point at Mandava when he left with a draw which somehow put a dent on their championship quest.
The Gamecocks equalized in the 88th minute through the right boot of young Nicholas Muchadeyi. The hosts had taken the lead in the 34th minute via a strike from Walter Musona.
Gift Bello, Ian Nekati, the Moto twins Kelvin and Elvis worked so hard to protect their goalkeeper Petrso Mhari but a lapse in the last two minutes saw them losing the two vital points.
Charles Sibanda who re-joined Pure Platinum Play during the window is still to score so is Makai Kawashu.
The platinum miners’ strikers have been firing blanks and they have been depending on Nqobizitha Masuku, Rodwell Chinyengetere and Winston Mhango to score goals.
Platinum has lost to ZPC at home, drawn with Caps United, Mutare City Chicken Inn and Hwange at home.
They lost 18 vital points at Mandava.
